Meeker grew up in New York City with little exposure to car culture. A friend pulled him into a technical school in upstate New York, and the rest is history. He started by taking apart the carburetor on his parents’ 1966 Mustang, then worked his way up through the fixed operations side of the business, the service and parts departments he says drive a dealership’s profitability. That foundation made him a rare general manager who came up through fixed ops, with a deep command of the accounting and the backend that he believes separates the leaders who last from the ones who do not.
